Hey, I just want to write a quick post about The White Screen of Death, Getting Technical and Unleashing the Beast…enjoy!!

blog wars

So one day a few weeks ago I entered in my wordpress admin login address…

only to discover a totally blank browser window staring back at me!

No error message, no loss of internet connection message, just a 100% blank white screen!!!

It’s worth noting here that I had logged into my Wordpress Admin Area the day before no problem…and that I hadn’t done ANYTHING bewteen logging out one day and trying to log in the next!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!! <---The Noise of An Angry Rob!!

So, after much searching of sites and forums trying various suggestions I finally saw a title that really seemed to sum up my problem:

How to troubleshoot the Wordpress “White Screen of Death”!!

Perfect I thought: I followed the instructions here:

http://jaredheinrichs.com/how-to-troubleshoot-wordpress-white-screen-of-death.html <--Thanks Jared

That solved the problem (which turned out to be plugin related).

So all is good but it was a scary few minutes thinking that I had somehow LOST EVERYTHING!!!

It finally gave me the kick up the ass to get my blog backed up…seriously consider backing up your blog if you haven’t already it wasn’t actually that ‘technical’ either!

Anyway…

Speaking of getting technical: Step 3 The Getting Technical Video Tutorial Series is done:

Getting Technical Video Series

click the picture to go to the videos

(There’ll be a few more getting added over the coming weeks but at least I’ve managed to stay pretty much on track and get most done despite a busy time of wedding related venue hunting, planning and all that – must be because I’ve read the Busy Fool Elimination Method – you should too Wink )

The Videos take you step-by-step, over my shoulder, setting up a new website (www.myexamplesetupsite.com) right from step 1.

They’re all available for free because I’ve hosted these videos on youtube…BUT all videos for the next steps will ONLY be available to blog members (I’m going t be using something really cool for hosting instead of youtube but we’ll talk more about that in another post soon)…

…so if you haven’t got your free members area access yet then now you have ANOTHER reason to get it!

I hope you enjoy Step 3; check it out and let me know your thoughts, what else do you want to know about? is something missing? Leave me some feedback on the Getting Technical page and show me you’re alive!

Oh yeah just so you know what coming next…

Step 4 is : List Building (Unleash The List Building Beast)

List Building Unleash The Beast

Until next time…

Take Action & Enjoy!!

It’s been a while since i’ve posted (partly due to wordpress weirdness striking back – as you might have read previously wordpress and I enjoy a love hate relationship – but i’ll save that story for another post). For now, I just want to write a quick post to tell you all about Vegas, my new ebook, my second video, and what’s coming…

Vegas 2010

So… I recently returned from Alex Jeffreys’ Workshop in Vegas.

It was great to finally meet some of my fellow marketers and students in person and to hang out with a bunch of people who you can say “Google Slap” to and they don’t think you’re being kinky Wink

But seriously if you haven’t been to an event yet, I cannot recommed getting yourself to one strongly enough for 2 main reasons:

Reason 1) The quality seminars.

We had great presentations by Alex, Stephanie Mulac, Jit Uppal, Dean Holland & Adam Spiel – If any of you are reading this then thanks again!!

These seminars all contained quite a few eye-opening “ah-ha” moments so I’d be amazed if anyone came away from these 2 days without AT LEAST 3 powerful things they can implement in their own business.

Plus it was inspirational to see how far people like Jit, Dean & Adam (who were members of Alex’s very first coaching program) had come along their journey.

Credit also to Garry Parkes who ensured the smooth running of the event throughout. Great job Garry and Thanks!

Reason 2) The “Networking”.

As if the workshop wasn’t value enough, the time spent hanging out in the bar, forging freindships, getting JV partners and getting EVEN MORE tips, tricks & advice from the guys already walking the walk was priceless.

Paul Wilson a.k.a “who is” (sorry mate but I think you’re stuck with that one), Marcus Passey, Garry Parkes, Guy Hague, Graeme Ashe, Ross Vegas, Gary Simpson, David ‘food critic’ Walker, Dean Oram, Dean Holland, Dan Briffa, Marc ‘the rohypnotist’ Milburn, Jit Uppal & of course Alex – it was a pleasure gents, and I look forward to hanging out with you all again sometime soon! …until then…one for the road Wink
onefortheroad

now back to business….

I’ve just finished my second eBook all about building your online business on solid foundations.

I’m just giving it away for free with NO EMAIL REQUIRED for now (part of a plan but i’ll get to that in a later post) so it’d be great for you to grab it and let me know your thoughts on the feedback page. I hope you enjoy!

Building Solid Foundations

Just click the cover to claim your complementary copy or log into your free members area account. If you’ve not got an account yet then get one HERE.

I’ve also just finished my second video; my blog welcome video is done. It’s not perfect but I’m getting better at video. Hope you enjoy it and again your feedback would be very much appreciated

And finally, a quick note about what’s coming next…

I’m working on the ‘Getting Technical’ video tutorial series (this comes after Step 1 – Building Solid Foundations & Step 2 – The Busy Fool Elimination Method) and will cover Step 3 – Setting up your Blog. I’ll be setting up a brand new example site from the VERY beginning….

Getting Technical Video Series

As always it’s great to hear your comments particularly regarding what you want to see in the videos, so show me you’re alive!

Until next time. Take Action & Enjoy!

This is a quick overview of the steps we’re going to be taking together, over the next few weeks, building our ‘blog based’ online business.

It’s my first video and it was a good learning experience (something I’ll be sharing with you later on – you can learn from my mistakes).

It’s not perfect but it’s done on schedule; as my mentor Alex Jeffreys says, “Don’t get it perfect, just get it going!”

Also I apologise if I sound a little tired; there has been a few too many occasions celebrating our engagement with friends – you bad bad people!! Smile

It would be great to hear your comments on what’s here and what you would like to see included in the upcoming videos Grin

So untill next time I hope you enjoy this…

Last week all my blog links were leading to a 404 error page!

This is what I did to fix it.

First I found this support thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/334199

but although showing someone else having the same problem, it didn’t give a reason why or offer a solution!

Then I found this, older, support thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/224950 this time with the statement “I fixed it!” and showing how it was fixed…

Brilliant, I thought, all I need to do is to make sure my htaccess file included the code shown in the “fixed it” post (shown below)

htacc1

So, happy with my detective work, I accessed my htaccess file…only to find that it already contained the exact code required (pictured below)

htacc

?????

But I decided to copy and paste the recommended code over the existing code and re-upload the file anyway…

I reloaded my blog and all internal links we’re no longer leading to 404 error pages!!

Everything was back to normal!

It’s great that everything is working as it should again and there’s been no further problems with links going to 404 error pages since.

The only thing is that it leaves the question why it happened unanswered.

I hadn’t made any changes or updates during the time between when all internal links were working and when they all stopped working!

If anyone has any ideas it would be great to hear from you!

I’ve just finished my first eBook:

the busy fool elimination method

I once was so “busy” that even though I had a brand new Play Station 3 it sat unopened in it’s box for 3 months because I was so “busy” I didn’t have time to even set it up, never mind about playing any games!

How CRAZY that was when I look back!

The thing was I was not really busy…I was just being a BUSY FOOL!

I didn’t even realise how guilty of unnecessarily wasting time and effort I was!

These are the steps that will prevent you from becoming a Busy Fool.

It contains no padding and no waffle, just good solid advice, plans and step-by-step instructions to change the way you work making you super productive, laser-focused and it’ll have you completing more important tasks in a week than you normally do in a month!

Just click on the book cover to discover more and claim your free copy…

Enjoy!
