Really Important But Often Overlooked…

In this post: Squeeze pages, a new report (on safelists), laptops on the blink and a video on something ‘often overlooked’…

Hello again and how you doing?

I just want to make a quick post covering a few things and one really important thing.

First…the squeeze page tests are returning some good data here’s a sneak peak at some of the top converting squeeze pages so far…

squeeze snap
Early results put these 2 pages in the lead at around 63 and 71% conversions respectively…strange that the long form is doing better!

I’ll be sharing more comprehensive info soon but I haven’t got round to collating it all yet for a few reasons:

Partly due to writing a new report: Safelist X

safelistx
click the cover to grab your copy or log into the Blueprint Membership area

Partly due to having to make a few changes to the member’s area system!

What was formerly the Blog Member’s Area is now the Blueprint Membership and I’m no longer using the ‘Wishlist Plugin’. (note: I couldn’t transfer existing members so if you haven’t yet (most of you have) you’ll need to re-sign up – sorry for any inconvenience but at least it is still FREE and it’s better than it was before)

UPDATE: The Members’ Area has changed. Check The Blueprint for details

Partly due to time lost fixing the laptop when it went haywire.

when laptops go wrong!!
Good old technology strikes again!

BUT mainly there’s a VERY GOOD reason I haven’t got round to doing it yet and it’s something I don’t hear people talking about that often!
Here’s a (3 min 30 second) video to explain… (if you’re really so busy you can’t spare 3 minutes then watch the first 20 secs and the last minute…then ask yourself why you can’t find 3 spare minutes in your day you workaholic!!)

As always your comments are *really* appreciated, show me your alive ;-)

Till next time…

Hey Rob,

Yeah I am alive!

The video was cool, you look like a sweet couple.

The views are breath taking too, looks like your having a ball.

I can see now why you are not always able to get round to doing everything, cos your never here!!!

Hey Sally!

Just a little opportunity to take some time off. Aside from a bit of older footage of New York and the recent mini break to Switzerland all the rest is in the UK (just looks more exotic in the sunshine).

Hi Rob,

Great video! Really cool Happy snaps!

I have to often keep reminding myself why I am doing what I am doing when I am working in to the early hours of the morning. However when I open my little girls bedroom door and look at her sleeping, I remember why!

The internet is an amazing place! It has enabled people to create incomes and life styles they never dreamed of.

Good luck with you wedding plans.

Cheers

Hey Jacinta,

Good comment!

Just to be clear I’m not advocating slacking off and not working hard but I just think it’s really important to occasionally take a bit of time off to recharge and re-plan.

It’s impossible work efficiently when you’re burned out!

Might as well work at 100% for 98% of the time than at 95% for 100% of the time!! :-D

Agree with reminding yourself of motivation. I like to keep a montage of pictures (of the things I want and the people I’m trying to make a better future for) by the computer to keep me going on the difficult days! It works!

Hi Rob,

Just thought I would pop by and say hello again!

Can so relate to working efficiently when your burned out!

Before I had my bubba I used to work non stop in offline business. My wake up call happened when I got sick during my pregnancy and had no choice but to slow down and smell the roses. The health of my bubba depended on it!

Now I know when I am feeling burned out I develop insomnia. Yes that is a little ironic, however once I know I am having trouble sleeping, that is when I turn off the computer for a few days and just relax and enjoy my little one.

Hope the wedding plans are going well.

Cheers

Sorry for the really slow reply to your comment!

I guess it can take something as significant as a “bubba” coming into the world to really give us a sense of perspective!

It’s good that you’ve got the ability to spot it’s time to ease back a bit. The irony of insomnia made me smile :-)…most people get burned out when there’s no enough hours in the day…you have the ability to create more hours :-D

Thanks for stopping by!

Cool video Rob, now that’s what I’m talking about! It is definitely a must to take time off. I had to step away from my computer today because I was feeling burnt out and it is so crucial to take that time for rejuvenation and spend time with your loved ones.

You need to have a balance and doing this effectively is the key. I have a video vision board that I made and I watch everyday to keep me motivated along with listening to “I want to be a Billionaire” the new song by Bruno Mars and Travie McCoy, am really loving that song right now!

Thanks for this reminder Rob and I really liked the video!

Hey Rob,

How’s it going?

Great video…..looks like you had a blast.

Great advice, yes the world of Internet Marketing is an exhausting but amazing place to be. It is even more exhausting when you have a 19 month old daughter to chase after all day and being chained to the kitchen sink by the missus. Lol.

Sometimes it feels as thought there are not enough hours in the day, but you just have to find a happy medium between IM and your other commitments.

But most of all the key is to stay focused.

Thanks Rob,

Lee.

Hey Lee,

Sounds like you’ve got your hands full there!!!

When you say “it feels as thought there are not enough hours in the day” I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been there, in fact I think we’ve all been there at some point. The key is to (occasionally) step back, look at the bigger picture and make sure we’re still on course and as you very rightly say STAY FOCUSED on that goal!

Thanks for that as lately I have spent way too much time trying to get my blog established…time for a time out is well overdue.
So as a result of my visit to your blog I am taking the family out today ….in fact in 5 minutes from now and I don’t want to go near the computer until tomorrow.

Great stuff mate…good luck to both of you

Hey Rob,

A really cool video. Looks like Bailey got it sussed.
I am from Alex’s first marketing course and I agree with you completely about taking time off. I took things a little further however.
Once I decided to go fulltime, I thought why am I still in the cold and wet UK. So I sold my house and moved to a little town in the south of France called Ceret.
Now I wake up in the mornings to mountain views. I work about five or six hours and the rest of the day is, well my own.
Have laptop will travel. Its not a bad life is it?
All the best

G’day Rob

Cool video Man. I am ready for a holiday. I really believe in balance.

If you get the chance check out “WHAT IS A GUERRILLA ENTREPRENEUR?” by Jay Conrad Levinson. This is point 2 out of 20.

2) The guerrilla entrepreneur achieves balance from the very start.

He builds free time into his work schedule so that balance is part of his enterprise. He respects his leisure time as much as his work time, never allowing too much of one to interfere with the other. Traditional entrepreneurs always placed work ahead of leisure and showed no respect for their own personal freedom. Guerrillas cherish their freedom as much as their work.

Its Gold!!!

Cheers

Hey Rob,

The new report sounds cool love safelists its the best way to get people on your list in a hurry. Thats my opinion anyway.

The squeeze pages are really high conversions. Did you do them yourself or did you outsource.

Still alive to just like the pearl jam song

Glyn

Rob July 5, 2010 at 10:23 am

Hey Glyn,

Safelists get a bad press but (as long as they are used the right way) they are a great way to add to your list fast and I think it’s a good way to build your list to a decent level before getting into Adswaps!

I made the pages myself but they’re based on successful models used by Frank Kern and Ryan Deiss. Read about Ryan’s (that’s the highest converting one) in an old report of his and re-created it with a few modifications to suit my product.

I hope to be collecting all the data and posting it soon!

Thanks for stopping by here :-)

Hi Rob,

I like the background music. Taking time off is sure something I lack on my side since I’ve been doing this online thing.

Squeeze page is definitely something that works with list building. How are you testing the squeeze pages ? Do you have follow ups behind them ?

For me I test for a short period via PPV to see how the opt ins works. Lead Impact is a source I use.

Rob July 21, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Hey Louis,

I’m simply testing using Googles free website optimizer tool. It’s dead simple to add the tracking code on the pages and watch the results.

I’ll test 2 or 3 variations, keep the highest converting page and then follow up with another split test of that page and a page with a small variation (like in the headline).

Haven’t heard of Lead Impact before so I’ll check that out.

Hi Rob, have you heard about the 100 blog comment challenge?

A few of us bloggers have got together for it. The aim is to write a blog post and then try and reach 100 comments for it, which in turn builds backlinks and helps improve our google ranking, as well as helping us all get to know eachother a bit better.

I have created a page on my blog dedicated to the contributors Rob:
