My First Video: Building a Blog Based Business
This is a quick overview of the steps we’re going to be taking together, over the next few weeks, building our ‘blog based’ online business.
It’s my first video and it was a good learning experience (something I’ll be sharing with you later on – you can learn from my mistakes).
It’s not perfect but it’s done on schedule; as my mentor Alex Jeffreys says, “Don’t get it perfect, just get it going!”
Also I apologise if I sound a little tired; there has been a few too many occasions celebrating our engagement with friends – you bad bad people!!
It would be great to hear your comments on what’s here and what you would like to see included in the upcoming videos
So untill next time I hope you enjoy this…

Hi Rob,
Great report there, one thing has always stopped me in my tracks and that’s the thought of planning a year ahead.
In your report you broken it down to a level where, even I can understand how it’s meant to be done
Great work and thanks a lot,
James

Hey Rob,
Great video, especially for your first one!
Good to see you’ve got the links working again. Did you figure out why they were all returning a ‘not found’ page?
Thanks Eric!!
Well, I solved the problem but not really sure why it happened!
I wrote a post about it (before my first video) to give others a heads-up and see if anyone else has the answer to this particular Wordpress mystery bug
Speak soon,
Rob
Hi Rob,
That has to be one of the best first time videos I’ve ever seen, you sound like one of the pros.
I really must do some videos myself, I’ve only done screen capture video so far, and I’ve even got the full version of Camtasia Studio!
I’ll definitely be checking back for your future videos, and I especially look forward to hearing your video making tips.

Awesome!! Thanks for such a kind comment Paul!!
Bwahahaha (evil laugh) I’ve fooled them all into thinking I’m professional
… But seriously though, thank you!
You’ve got the biggie (Camtasia) so if you’ve got powerpoint and a mic headset your good to go…bite the bullet and remember you’re not live.
It’s actually kind of fun.
Speak soon mate,
Rob
No problem on the comment, I think you’ve got a really good voice for it. I hate listing to my voice on playback, which is probably why I haven’t done many videos. But I know I’ve just got to get over it and get some recorded.
Also just noticed something… I meant to type “I’ve only done 1 screen capture video so far”. What I was trying to say was I do need to make use of Camtasia more.
As for Powerpoint I haven’t got that yet, but I’ve found a similar program that’s free, which I’ve not downloaded yet, it’s supposed to be just as good.
Did you purchase Powerpoint, or were you using the free version? If so can you carry on using it after the trial period, or does it block you. I’m just wondering because if I download it now and don’t have time to use it, it will just run out.
I’ll pop back later!

It’s a full version of Powerpoint; came with a new laptop (which was a nice bonus).
I don’t know about the free version or the trial period but wouldn’t think you would still be able to use it after the trial period had expired so you’re making the right decision in downloading it when you need it.
Before powerpoint I used the Open Office program (Impress I think it’s called) and that did a great job and it’s free!!
Thanks for the info mate, and yeah Open Office Impress, that’s the free alternative that I found.
I’ll have to download it!
Will check back soon for your next video!

Hey Rob,
Thanks for stopping over at my blog.
That’s a really good job for a first attempt, as Paul said you really have the voice for it.
I have done a few videos but i hate listening to my own voice and it can take a good few attempts before im happy with my video.
Ill definitely be back to see your next video Rob keep up the good work.
Take care,
Nick

Hey Nick,
Thanks for your comment.
I think video posts are the way forward and I expect I’ll be doing a lot more over the coming weeks and months…It can take a few attempts but is definitely quicker to say something in a video than write it all down
Hey Rob!
Great video! Clear and concise, and as others have said you definitely have the voice for it!
Oh, and congratulations on you engagement.

It’s an interesting list building idea you’ve got going on right now, I’ll be checking it out soon.
Rob
Hi Rob,
Well past the time I visited here, and I have to say this is a great blog.
I find it hard to believe this is your first video! Concise and to the point – maybe you should celebrate some more
.
Reading Sean’s comment reminded me of a survey I read somewhere quite recently about some experts who did a series of tests with headsets, microphones etc and the surprise result was that the dearest wasn’t the best, the best being a cheap, well known brand.
Anyway, keep up with the videos – excellent.

Hey Dave,
Thanks for dropping by here and thanks for the kind comments about my blog and the videos: I really appreciate your feedback!!
I like the headphones – they get the job done and because they’re not really expensive there’s no worries about loosing them or damaging them when travelling around.
The only thing is they’re a little uncomfortable after a while but that just makes me get the job done rather than getting it perfect
